morning sun. . .

“Listen. Slide the weight from your shoulders and move forward. You are afraid you might forget, but you never will. You will forgive and remember. ~ Barbara Kingsolover, Poisonwood Bible

the sun pours through her morning window

landing unflinchingly on everything in its path

it takes her breath away

and renews her from the inside out

allowing her to see clearly and understand

while she must never forget . . .

as complacency is never good,
she can relax now and move into the moment
and travel safely into the tomorrow
she pauses for a brief moment
and sunbathes in the warmth
as it streams through her morning window
giving thanks and feeling gratitude
knowing that for today
her world is full of hope and beauty and love

  3. The Cinque Terre is one of my favorite places on earth, and I'm also a fan of Jess Walter. So I'll definitely read this one. He wrote a great book on Ruby Ridge, called "Every Knee Shall Bow," while still a journalist for the Spokane Herald.
