welcome february. . .

"Go to the winter woods: listen there, look, watch, and “the dead months” will give you a subtler secret than any you have yet found in the forest." ~  Fiona Macleod, Where the Forest Murmurs

It has warmed up considerably over the last two days. The sky is blue again and the pond off our deck has thawed.

The Indian runner ducks are back, or at least four for them are. We had eight when fall ended. They are right there when I open the slider expecting to be fed. Lucky for them I had a bag of cracked corn waiting for their return.

I am liking this kind of 70's editing here. It reminds of the photos I have stuck in old photo albums from high school and college.

The snow is gone off the "mountains". The river is still a bit low, and the water is so blue right now.

And just so I have proof that I was up early and down by the river to welcome in February.

"The February sunshine steeps your boughs and tints the buds
and swells the leaves within."

-  William C. Bryant

  2. The header is breath taking, so stark and beautiful and simple. I adore it. And this post. And seeing your beautiful face at the end. Rock on, my friend, rock on...
