"He would at Windsor have taken possession of the throne if he thought that it looked comfortable enough, and been surprised if asked to move."

this is the two of them, always touching. i don't think they even realize it.
gus is curious, and smart, and if you can't see him, he is up to something he knows he is not suppose to do. even though he can't always be trusted i don't think he means to misbehave, he is just discovering the world around him and doesn't always think of the consequences. he's a guy.
sometimes he gets to stay with us and we get to dog sit for a few days. he is a good bed partner and he likes to be outside in the yard where he can run free and explore. he helps in the garden and trots around like he owns the place. he knows where grandma keeps the cookies too and is not shy about asking for one.
gus reminds me of a little boy i once knew, who collected things, and investigated his world with tons of questions. a little boy who always needed to understand and know more and tucked his stuffed animals in at night because he loved them so. a little boy who always had a plan, and a quest, who had a heart full of love and a curious mind, never meaning to be bad (okay there was that time he wrote his name with lighter fluid on top of the freezer in the garage and lit it), but again, i think he was just inquisitive. gus reminds me of that little boy. maybe that is why i love him so.
he and his dad stopped by for a little visit yesterday morning. i just read an article on how to photograph black dogs, and tried some new settings, it is hard. these turned out okay but not as sharp as i would have liked. but i will keep practicing. it was the ending to a perfect weekend.
hope your monday is grand,

Here I write and try to capture my everyday life even when it is blurry and unclear. I love simple things like sun flares and snowflakes, walks on the beach and people around my table; where you will always find candle light, laughter and flowers. Welcome to my blog and my corner of the world. I am glad you are here.

Love the side profile one of him! Scout my younger dog is like that always up to something if you can't see him. But he has cuteness going to him, plus he is so obvious when he is up to no good. Wow lighter fluid on the freezer...the things I missed by not having a boy :)
ReplyDeleteloved this post and your photos of black gus. would love to read the article you found on photographing black dogs, as ours is, and it's a constant challenge.
